Annie Macaulay-Idibia Says, "Producers Dare Not Ask Me For Sex"

Annie Macaulay-Idibia
Recently married Annie Macaulay Idibia says being music star, Tuface Idibia’s wife has been no challenge. Annie, who spoke with an online news portal, Ibaka tv, on location of a movie, Girls in the mood, Annie Macaulay Idibia, says if at all there is any challenge, it will be that 24-hours is no more enough for her to take care of her two babies.

Beaming with smiles, she says,

“It has been nice, everything I thought and much more. There are no challenges; the only thing is shuffling my work, my home and my kid. I have so much to attend to; I almost feel like 24 hours is not enough. Now I have work, I have my daughter and I have my husband -my two babies to take care of. I also have my own personal runs. So, it is always very busy, my days are always extremely busy.”

Her husband, Tuface, actually sprung a surprise on her on her birthday. He showed up with cake on location. Obviously surprised by his visit, Annie describes her husband’s surprise visit as cute.

She says, “I was supposed to film half day but eventually filmed till pretty late, at about 9.30pm. I am sure he got tired of waiting. I don’t know how he did it with the director and he got the cake. I was just filming and he walked in and everybody started singing ‘Happy birthday’. It was nice and I thought that was cute. I was surprised that he came; I wasn’t expecting to see him.”

In the movie, she plays the character of a girl named Tessy who is a drug addict. The producer of the movie, Prince Iyke Olisa, says this about her character. “She was a drug addict raped at the age of 13 by her uncle. The man denied and the wife sent her out of the home. She was introduced, forced into a kind of odd life. She started living wrong and ended up a drug addict and all manner of things.”

The Tessy character however fascinates Annie as she keeps  saying how much she loves the character. According to her, she has never played a role like that and the character is a direct contrast to who she really is.

Annie says, “I play the character called Tessy, I actually really love this character. It is something I have not played before. She is a drug addict; she takes a lot of cocaine, weed, cigarettes, drinks- she is just a very reckless girl. I think what is fascinating about the character is that she is an addict. She is always itchy and when she doesn’t have her fix, she needs to get some. I love the character; it is different from anything that I have played. There was a time she was in jail for about four days and she had had it up to here, she was all itchy and saying she needs her fix. She is a very reckless girl and she is the exact opposite of who I am. I love the fact that I could step out of Annie Macaulay Idibia’s shoes and be somebody else who is totally reckless. I love the character totally.”

She adds that a character she will also love to play is either a blind girl or a hardened criminal.

Annie also states that she has never got advances from marketers or producers.

She says, “I really want to play the role of a blind girl; I want to play a hardened criminal. I have not faced advances from directors or producers. Before when they say it, I don’t get it. I just believe that if you have what it takes, if you have the talent, then eventually you will be called upon. I don’t think there is any field they don’t harass women but if you have it, eventually someone is going to see it and give you a chance. ‘Fear no gree them o’. Nobody tried to hit on me on that level.”

Meanwhile, the couple was spotted last weekend at the MTV Africa All Stars Concert where Tuface flaunted his wedding ring.

“It is official for those who don’t know,” he says, while showing off his  ring.

Ground (Sinkhole) Opens In Chicago, Swallowing 3 Cars

A large sinkhole opened up in the middle of the street and swallowed three cars on Chicago’s South Side. According to police, a driver was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The cars, however, weren’t so lucky.

Two cars were inside the hole when fire crews arrived. A third car, which was parked, slid into the hole after first responders got to the scene. Authorities say the sinkhole was caused by a water main break.

Jiroemon Kimura, Oldest Man In The World Turns 116 In Japan

Jiroemon Kimura
The oldest man ever recorded, Jiroemon Kimura, celebrated his 116th birthday Friday with a message from Japan’s prime minister as health chiefs launched a study into why his home city boasts so many centenarians.

Kimura, who greeted guests including the mayor of Kyotango city and officials from the Guinness World Records had a very busy day.

“You give us pride and confidence in the people of Japan,” Prime Minister Shinzo Abe said in a pre-recorded video greeting that marked the milestone.

Mayor Yasushi Nakayama also congratulated Kimura on reaching the ripe old age of 116, making him the current world’s oldest person and the longest living man on record.

“Yes, yes, thank you,” said Kimura, who is still a way off from the all-time record set by Jeanne Calment, a French woman who died in 1997 at the age of 122 which made her the longest living person in history.

Kimura, who was born in 1897 – the same year as American aviation pioneer Amelia Earhart – spent time in hospital after falling ill late last year, but was back in the home he shares with his 60-year-old grand-daughter-in-law on Friday.

The centenarian whose weak bones means he now has to stay in bed most of the time, but never misses his three meals a day, he said.

Kimura had seven children, 14 grandchildren, 25 great-grand children and 14 great-great grandchildren, and worked at a post office for about 40 years. After retiring he took up farming which he continued to do until the age of 90.

He does not smoke, he eats only until he is 80 percent full, and drinks only a “modest” amount of alcohol, local authorities and media said.

His motto in life is “to eat light and live long”.
Encouraged by Kimura and 94 other people in Kyotango’s 60,000-strong population who will this year be 100 years old or more, the city has launched a research project to find the secret of their longevity.

“We have a very high centenarian rate, about 2.5 times higher than the prefectural average,” said a local health official.

“We don’t have city-based data, but Kyotango’s rate is even 1.27 times higher than Kochi prefecture, the top of all the 47 prefectures in Japan.”

Health officials are researching the diet of Kimura and other centenarians, the official said.
“We are interested in what they eat and how much. We are especially keen to research how much salt they consume.”

The city of Kyotango, near Kyoto, is sandwiched between the Sea of Japan (East Sea) and a mountain range. It is naturally blessed with good seafood and farm products, the official said.

“We are also interested in knowing what kinds of local food they like to eat and if this helps them live so long,” he said.

The city plans to compile a recipe book based on the study and unveil it at a symposium on longevity in November.

“We want city residents to know of the secrets of what enables a long life-span but also to attract tourists to this long-living city,” the official said.

Politician Threatens To Shoot Own Testicles If Son Marries Another Man

Horacio Cartes

Politics as usual in Paraguay? A tobacco magnate and Paraguay’s leading presidential candidate is currently embroiled in a ferocious controversy over comments he made comparing gay people to "monkeys" and threatening to remove his private parts if his son married another man.
During a recent radio interview, Horacio Cartes, the 57-year old leading candidate for Paraguay’s right-wing Colorado Party, compared the support of same-sex marriage to believing in "the end of the world" and threatened to become a eunuch if his 28-year old son wanted to marry another man.
"I would shoot myself in the testicles, because I do not agree."
Cartes used slightly more profane language to describe the act. The comments come as Cartes has also been hit with charges of money laundering and smuggling contraband Paraguayan-made cigarettes into neighboring Brazil.
While he still maintains a lead in the polls, recent data shows Cartes’ numbers slipping in the run-up to
Sunday’s vote.
Cartes will face Liberal party candidate Efraín Alegre, who while sharing a conservative, business-oriented mentality, his stance on gay rights is deemed more open and nuanced.
"This is something that needs to be discussed in society," Alegre said of Cartes’ comments.
He added that Cartes’ feeling represented the "Paraguay of the past." The Paraguayan gay rights groups Somos Gay issued a statement condemning the comments as "cruel" and asked Cartes to make a formal apology.
"The Colorado Party claims to protect the Paraguayan family, claiming that if lesbians and gays become visible in our society, the traditional family will disappear," said Sergio López, a director of the group.
"But in fact, they are ignoring reality since that traditional family is no longer the norm."
Paraguay sits in a region that has made swift advancements in gay rights, with both Argentina and Uruguay recently legalizing gay marriage.

'Redeemed Pastor Adeboye In N20b Fraud' - Kemi Omololu-Olunloyo

Kemi Omololu-Olunloyo

Those who know Kemi Omololu-Olunloyo or have heard of her will know that she is far from quiet. Kemi who is the daughter of an ex- governor of Oyo state, was deported to Nigeria from Canada after failed attempts to battle with immigration officials over her status in Canada in 2012. She is known for her controversial and audacious statements on social media.

Below is Kemi's latest 'rant' as we know it:
Nigeria is one liberally sentimental society where what you write or say about religious idols are quick to be termed as blasphemy but truth be told, Nigerians are being taken for granted and it`s high time we take our destiny in our hands by making our leaders answerable to some of the financial calamities the country has been plunged into over the years.
By estimation, according to international analysts, Nigeria is meant to be one of the most prosperous nations in the world owing to its staggering production of about 2.4 million barrels of oil everyday and with the price
of oil pegged at $93.61 a barrel, our dear country earns a whopping $224 million income a day, and this is just from crude oil sales. With its geopolitical power and economic resources, I doubt if any country would have the power and financial might to change the course of black/African civilization like Nigeria had our leaders not corrupt. Nigerian citizens are probably the worst treated in the world with the recent research saying it`s the worst place for any baby to be born especially this year, 2013. Where are all these monies? Before we serve you this story, please check Ezekiel 8:12, He said to me, “Son of a man, have you seen what the elders of the house of Israel are doing in darkness, each at the shrine of his own idols? They say, “The Lord does not see us; the Lord has forsaken the land.”
It is an unbelievable story of the revered man of God, the general overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, RCCG, Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye who`s alleged to be involved in a dirty import duty deals, and this are obviously not one of those framed up stories, there are verifiable facts and figures, the man who`s fondly referred to as Daddy G.O by obsessed Redeemed Church patrons worldwide is in a centre of a serious controversy. Daddy G.O is being alleged to have connections with the CIA and not just that, he`s said to have evaded import duty severally to the extent that, he has cheated and cause the country over N20 billion loss in revenue generation. Below is a text of what an international broadcast journalist and erstwhile editor of Yahoo Canada got after a thorough undercover investigation. It is as mind boggling as anybody could think.

“Enoch Adejare Adeboboye is a Nigerian pastor and General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, but he`s also a CIA agent. His church in the Silver Spring area of Maryland, USA has been infiltrated by the CIA, America's SSS called the Central Intelligence Agency. A major number of prominent US-based Nigerians are in the church and if they dare me, I will mention their names ONE by ONE. I have played undercover in the church for some time. You see, Adeboye's congregation there is led by one pastor Ghandi Olaoye, a greedy pastor leading Hesus House, DC, who claims his church's praise is high, the worship is intense and the word is uncompromising. He is currently the coordinator in charge of convention and special projects for RCCG.

Recently, some prominent US based Doctors/LOUD mouth Nigerians opened their mouth at president Jonathan's government demanding who the Senators funding Boko Haram are? They were so loud and insulting that they should have stood in the middle of Maiduguri or Kaduna to make those claims. These brainwashed MORONS once gave Ghandi a brand new Mercedes Benz for his 50th birthday, he spent their money lavishly on his party and ultimately, he'll poison them like Jim Jones when they are all done in his CULT. They are using your money for funding parties, cars and more.

Adeboye was linked to a scandalous import duty waiver said to have cost Nigeria a whooping N20 Billion in revenue loss between 2006 and 2007. The deal was facilitated by Ghandi. All their lavish stealing and spending, now the CIA is in there with them. What they don't know is that they can use this to ruin the rest of Nigeria and their congregation brainwashed here. I saw the 2006, RCCG import waiver of N9, 831, 109, 309. 00 through certificate no., BO/REV/12235/S.2/T.133 to import construction materials; generators and vehicles. The value of the imports was N49, 155, 546, 846. 00. In 2007, another import waiver was granted.

This time through a certificate number BO/R10260/V111/161, RCCG was granted rights to import building/construction materials with value put at N48, 988, 454, 876. 00 with a total waiver of N9, 757, 690, 975. 20. The two waivers total N19, 588, 800, 284.20, while the bulk transactions amount to N98,144,347,130.20. Also 300 luxury cars with value put at $6,923,000, 100 Jeeps (SUV) valued at $8,000,000, Video Equipment valued at $12,000,000.00, were all part of the shady import deals. Adeboye and Ghandi may have escaped jail term this time but that does not prevent me from RIPPING his stealing for you.

The CIA is watching. They may be working for them. Look at you, you broke ass poor calling a thief your MAN OF GOD! He is the Man of the DEVIL!”.
REPENT! Adeb-OLE!
REPENT Ghandi Ola-OLE!
Enuff!

10 Things You Shouldn't Do While Having Sex

Making love should be a great time for you and your lover.
However, the excitement can quickly disappear if things are done wrong. Here’s a list of things never to do when you and your partner are doing the dance:

1. NEVER answer your phone: Whoever is calling you during bedroom time can wait.
2. NEVER call another person’s name: Calling an ex’s name in a moment of passion while doing the deed with someone else is a definite no-no.
3. NO acrobatics: Changing positions every 5 seconds, is just wrong.
4.NEVER shy away from kissing: No kissing makes your partner feel like you don’t really care about them and you’re only interested in the do.
5.NO Blood: There should be no bleeding, of any kind. This is a guaranteed mood killer.
6.DON’T fake it: Don’t pretend to have an climax. Your act might not be as convincing as you think.

7.DON’T lie: If you pretend to love missionary because you know your lady loves missionary, it won’t work out well. Find positions you both like, and work with that.
8.DON’T be silent: Let it show that you like what’s happening. Don’t be a chatterbox but don’t lie there like a block of wood either
9.NO comparing: Don’t force your partner to do certain things because your ex always did them and you liked it.
10.NO farting!!!: For God’s sake, no farting! It’s just disgusting!
Avoid these things for a great time in bed for you and your partner. Please share your suggestions in the comment box.

Deadly explosion at Texas fertilizer plant kills 15, over 150 injured

A deadly explosion at a Texas fertilizer plant yesterday night Wednesday April 17th has left at least 15 people dead, including five volunteer firefighters and one police officer. The blast, which measured 2.1 on the Richter scale according to Reuters, left the town of West, 20 miles north of Waco, 'like a a warzone'. Over 180 people were injured in the blast, while dozens of homes and buildings were destroyed.

Public safety officials say they expect the death toll to rise and that rescue efforts have been hampered because of hazardous chemicals in the air following the explosion. Just feels like the US has been under attack this past few days. A fiery explosion tore through a fertilizer plant and leveled dozens of homes in a small Texas town late on Wednesday, killing as many as 15 people, injuring more than 160 others and spewing toxic fumes that forced
the evacuation of half the community, authorities said.
Police initially estimated that between five and 15 people had perished in the blast, which rocked the town of West, located about 20 miles north of Waco and 80 miles south of Dallas, shortly before 8 p.m. local time on Wednesday.
Public safety officials said they expected the death toll to climb as search teams combed through the rubble of the demolished plant and surrounding homes.
"I've never seen anything like this," McLennan County Sheriff Parnell McNamara said. "It looks like a war zone with all the debris."
Ground motion from the blast, triggered by a fire of unknown origin at the West Fertilizer Co plant, registered as a magnitude 2.1 seismic tremor and created a jolt felt in Dallas and beyond, the U.S. Geological Survey reported.
Waco Police Sergeant W. Patrick Swanton said investigators would examine whether the blaze was the result of foul play or a chemical reaction, adding that the blast site was being treated as a crime scene for the time being.
"We are not indicating that it is a crime, but we don't know," Swanton told reporters early on Thursday, some nine hours after the blast. "What that means to us is that until we know it is an industrial accident, we will work it as a crime scene." He said there was no immediate evidence of a crime.
The explosion came two days before the 20th anniversary of a fire in nearby Waco that engulfed a compound inhabited by David Koresh and his followers in the Branch Davidian sect, ending a siege by federal agents.
About 82 members of the sect and four federal agents died at Waco.
West Mayor Tommy Muska told Reuters that five or six volunteer firefighters who were among the first to arrive at the fertilizer plant were missing.
Firefighters had been battling the fire and evacuating nearby residences and a nursing home for about 20 minutes before the explosion occurred.
Officials said flames that continued to smolder inside the plant initially posed two threats: the possibility of setting off further explosions and the emission of hazardous fumes into the town.
Swanton said a residual fire burning underneath additional chemical tanks had been brought under control, "and I don't think that is any longer a threat."
Texas Public Safety Department spokesman D.L. Wilson said about half the town, about eight to 10 blocks, had been evacuated and that "we might even have to evacuate on the other side of town" if winds shift.
But emergency management personnel downtown determined that there was no immediate danger to the public from the smoke from the fire, Swanton said.
Officials said a full assessment of property damage would not come until after dawn.
Wilson said 50 to 75 homes were damaged by the explosion and a fire that followed, and a nearby 50-unit apartment complex had been reduced to "a skeleton standing up." Muska put the number of destroyed homes at between 60 and 80.
Wilson said 133 people had been evacuated from the nursing home, which was heavily damaged, but it was not immediately clear how many residents of the facility were hurt. A middle school in town also was heavily damaged.

'KIDS SCREAMING'
Three hospitals in Waco and Dallas that were receiving the bulk of patients from the disaster reported treating more than 160 injuries combined.
"We are seeing a lot of lacerations and orthopedic-type injuries ... things you would expect in an explosion," said David Argueta, vice president of operations at Hillcrest Baptist Medical Center in Waco.
Jason Shelton, 33, a father of two who lives less than a mile from the plant, said he heard fire trucks heading toward the facility five minutes before the explosion and felt the blast as he stood on his front porch.
"My windows started rattling and my kids screaming," Shelton said. "The screen door hit me in the forehead ... and all the screens blew off my windows."
Governor Rick Perry issued a statement saying his office had "mobilized state resources to help local authorities" deal with the incident.
A White House official said the Obama administration was aware of the situation and monitoring local and state response through the Federal Emergency Management Agency.

Shehu Sani Rejects Appointment to Serve in Boko Haram Amnesty Committee

A human rights activist, Shehu Sani, has declined to serve in the 26-member Presidential Committee empanelled by President Goodluck Jonathan to constructively engage key members of the extremist Boko Haram sect.
The committee is also to define comprehensive and workable framework for resolving insecurity in the country.
But in a post on his Facebook page on Wednesday night, Mr. Sani suggested he was not consulted before the appointment and announced he won’t serve on the committee
“My friends called me this afternoon to inform me that they saw my name on the list of the Presidential committee on Amnesty,” Mr. Sani said. “This is to thank our president for giving me such an honour and consideration. However, I humbly and respectably wish to decline to serve as member.
“My advice remains: Reach out to the persons I mentioned their names in my interviews in the dailies to
discreetly consult with the group to get their input on the idea. Thanks.”
Mr. Sani has repeatedly criticized the federal government over its handling of the Boko Haram insurgency. He had suggested that journalist Ahmad Salkida, who had reported extensively on the insurgency, should be engaged to reach out to the leadership of the violent sect.
President Jonathan had on Wednesday constituted the Presidential Committee following months of pressure on him to grant amnesty to members of the group.
Apart from engaging members of the Boko Haram sect, the panel is also to define comprehensive and workable framework for resolving insecurity in the country.
The Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Reuben Abati, who disclosed this to State House correspondents at a press briefing at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, said the 26-member amnesty committee would be chaired by the Minister of Special Duties, Tanimu Turaki, while a representative of the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation will serve as Secretary.
Apart from Mr. sani, other members are, Ahmed Lemu, Hakeem Baba Ahmed, Musa Shehu (rtd.), Abubakar Tureta, Datti Ahmed and Abubakar Sodangi.
Also in the committee are Ahmed Makarfi, Mohammed Matawalle, Zakari Ibrahim, Naja’atu Mohammed, Adamu Ladan, Joseph Golwa, A.I. Shehu and R.I Nkemdirim.
Other members are, P. I. Leha, Nura Alkali, Salihu Abubakar, Abubakar Sani Lugga,Ibrahim Tahir, Ibrahim Sab, Baba Ahmed Jidda, Bilal Bulama, and Bolaji Akinyemi
Mr. Abati said the decision to set up the committee was sequel to the consideration of the report of the technical committee set up by the National Security Council on insecurity in the Northern part of the country.
He listed the committee’s terms of reference to include, developing a framework for the granting of amnesty and setting up of a framework through which disarmament could take place within a 60-day time frame.
Mr. Abati said the committee would also develop a comprehensive victims’ support programme, and mechanisms to address the underlying causes of insurgencies that will help to prevent future occurrences.
He said the president also constituted a Federal Government committee on the proliferation of small arms and light weapons.
The constitution of the second committee, according to Mr. Abati, is in keeping with Nigeria’s pledge to work with the UN and other countries to stem “the worrisome proliferation of small arms and light weapons’’.
” The president said the use of such weapons was creating insecurity and instability in Nigeria and other developing nations.’’
The 17-member Committee on Small Arms and Light Weapons is chaired by Emmanuel Imohe, while the Director, Department of International Organisation in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will serve as Secretary.
Other members are the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Martin Uhomoibhi, T.D. Hart, Ghali Umar, M.G. Wakil and Opelusi Olureti.
Others are a representative each from the Ministry of Interior, Office of the National Security Adviser, Office of the Director General, State Security Services and the National Intelligence Agency
Also on the committee are a representative each of the Federal Ministries of Justice and Defence; Defence Intelligence Agency, the Nigeria Customs Services and Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation.
M. Abati said the president would formally inaugurate the committees on Wednesday, April 24, at the Council Chambers of the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

US Authorities arrest Mississippi man who sent 'Poisonous ricin' letters to President Barrack Obama and a US Senator

Authorities have arrested a suspect thought to have sent potentially poison-laced letters intended for President Barack Obama and Republican Sen. Roger Wicker of Mississippi, the Federal Bureau of Investigation announced late Wednesday. The FBI said its agents had detained Paul Kevin Curtis at 6:15 p.m. EDT at his home in Corinth, Miss.
In a statement, the FBI identified Curtis as "the individual believed to be responsible for the mailings of the three letters sent through the U.S. Postal Service which contained a granular substance that preliminarily tested positive for ricin. The letters were addressed to a U.S. senator, the White House, and a Mississippi justice official."
The news capped a day in which law enforcement officials announced that they had intercepted a letter sent to Obama that preliminary tests found to contain the deadly substance ricin. Officials temporarily locked down some Senate office buildings amid rising concerns of a terrorism-by-mail campaign reminiscent of the
anthrax attacks that followed the 9/11 strikes.
The letter sent to Wicker was caught Tuesday. Officials said there was no evidence of a link to the bombings near the finish line of the Boston Marathon.
Asked whether the Obama and Wicker incidents were connected, a law enforcement source told Yahoo News "the letters are very similar." Other news outlets reported that they bore the same message: "To see a wrong and not expose it, is to become a silent partner to its continuance." And both were reportedly signed "I am KC and I approve this message"—a play on the required campaign advertising endorsement candidates are required to make.
Obama was never in any real danger. Since the anthrax attacks in 2001, mail addressed to the White House goes through extensive off-site screening. The same goes for that of U.S. lawmakers.
Ricin, for which there is no known antidote, is made from ground castor beans—and ground castor beans lacking the poison's potency can still trigger a positive test.
One day after the letter to Wicker was intercepted, "a second letter containing a granular substance that preliminarily tested positive for ricin was received at an offsite mail screening facility," the FBI announced. "The envelope, addressed to the president, was immediately quarantined by U.S. Secret Service personnel, and a coordinated investigation with the FBI was initiated."
Democratic Sen. Carl Levin of Michigan also disclosed that a staffer in his Saginaw office had alerted authorities after receiving a "suspicious-looking letter." "Suspicious letters" were also intercepted at Republican Sen. Jeff Flake's Phoenix office on Wednesday morning, but "no dangerous or hazardous materials" were recovered in that incident, Flake announced later in the day.
And U.S. Capitol Police investigated a fresh potential threat to lawmakers: “suspicious packages” that had led them to clear three floors in two Senate office buildings, according to a spokeswoman. "Both incidents have been cleared. We have reopened every area—business as usual," Lt. Jessica Baboulis told Yahoo News.
One of the Hill offices investigated was that of Republican Sen. Richard Shelby of Alabama.
Asked whether there was any sign that those situations were linked to the Wicker letter, Baboulis replied: “We have nothing to indicate that."
The White House worked to tamp down fears.
"Before we speculate, before we make connections that we don’t know exist, that the FBI has made a clear statement about, we need to get the facts," press secretary Jay Carney told reporters at his daily briefing in response to a question about whether the nation is "under attack."
Levin also appeared to play down the situation in his field office.
"Earlier today, a staffer at my Saginaw regional office received a suspicious-looking letter. The letter was not opened, and the staffer followed the proper protocols for the situation, including alerting the authorities, who are now investigating. We do not know yet if the mail presented a threat," he said in a statement. "I’m grateful for my staff’s quick response and for government personnel at all levels who are responding."
The suspicious letters and items on the Hill follow heightened tensions in the wake of Monday's deadly Boston Marathon bombings.
The arrest followed an investigation in which the FBI Joint Terrorism Task Forces in Memphis, Tenn., and Jackson, Miss., cooperated with the U.S. Capitol Police; the U.S. Postal Inspection Service; and the U.S. Secret Service, aided by the following state and local agencies: the Lee County (Miss.) Sheriff’s Office; the Prentiss County (Miss.) Sheriff’s Office; the Corinth (Miss.) Police Department; the Booneville (Miss.) Police Department; the Tupelo (Miss.) Police Department; the Mississippi National Guard 47th Civil Support Team; and the Mississippi Office of Homeland Security.
The letter sent to the president was never near the president or the White House. The screening facility that caught the president's letter on Tuesday is "not located near the White House complex," U.S. Secret Service spokesman Brian Leary noted in a statement.
"On 4-16-13, a letter addressed to the president containing a suspicious substance was received at the remote White House mail screening facility. This facility routinely identifies letters or parcels that require secondary screening or scientific testing before delivery," Leary said.
"The Secret Service is working closely with the U.S. Capitol Police and the FBI in this investigation," he said.
Senate Sergeant at Arms Terrance Gainer said in an email to all Senate staff that mail delivery would be interrupted on Thursday and Friday, and he urged exceptional precautions when dealing with incoming mail:
Offices should NOT accept sealed envelopes. All unopened items should go through screening. You should accept mail only from a uniformed Senate Post Office employee or a government courier bearing a bona-fide government ID. Should an individual attempt to deliver a sealed item to your Washington, D.C., office, please redirect them to the Congressional Acceptance Site located at 160 D Street, NE (across the street from United States Capitol Police headquarters), or if you have any doubts, call the police. We will process these items safely and deliver them after they have cleared testing. If a sealed envelope already has been delivered to your office and it is of unknown origin, you should contact the United States Capitol Police."
News of the intercepted letter to the president was reportedly announced to senators during a briefing on Tuesday evening.

Bomb Explodes Behind Emir Of Kano’s Palace

It is unclear if the latest attack was targeted at the Emir of Kano.

An explosion has been reported near the Emir’s palace in Kano.

The explosive device, driven in a keke NAPEP tricycle, went off metres away from the palace’s back fence, very close to the central mosque where the Emir prays on Fridays.

Muktar Ahmed who prayed at a Mosque close by, minutes before the explosion, said the explosion occurred shortly after the Ishai prayer time, around 8:00 p.m.

The casualty rate is still unknown as the police are still awakening to the incident.

“The scene of the incident was immediately barricaded by the police,” Mr. Ahmed said.

The Emir of Kano, Ado Bayero, was a target of an assassination attempt in mid January.

He was attacked by gunmen on a Saturday afternoon leading to the death of his driver and his orderly.

The gunmen laid ambush on the convoy of the Emir around the Zoo road when he was returning from the Murtala Mosque in the city where he had gone to attend a Quranic recitation competition.
He sustained minor injuries and was flown to London for treatment.

It is unclear if the latest attack was targeted at the Emir.

The Kano State Police spokesman, Rilwanu Dutse, could not be reached for details of the incident as he did not pick or return calls made to his phone.
